Positive Qualities – Eminent & Self-possessed

Life is a self fulfilling prophecy, and you usually get what you expect. — Denis E. Waitley (1933-) Motivational Speaker

All positive qualities can grow from where they are. If one has achieved a modicum of Eminence, there is always more to realize – physically, mentally, emotionally, and especially, spiritually. One of the accomplishments is the balance of qualities possessed either by increasing one or more or by adding some positive character trait needed. An example of this balance would be the humility of Self-possession if one has (or wishes to have) some sort of fame.

Jim

Positive Qualities – Aspiring & Sensible

Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.
Read between the lines.
— Author Unknown

Our ability to sense, or even see, the future means we can “look before we leap.” Experience, but also wisdom and Aspiration, come into play with our goal setting. The future we envision for ourselves will be modified by our assumptions of what is possible. But what is Sensible? Alexander the Great saw the solidification of the Roman empire. Jesus, the clarification who God the Father is. We are capable of more than we think, especially spiritually if we do not let our own filters (see comment below) interfere.

Peace,
Jim

A match may start a fire, but once the fire is burning, putting out the match won’t stop it. The problem is no longer the match. It’s the fire. — Michael Crichton (1942-2008) The Terminal Man

Comment:
In order for us to allow a new thought to penetrate our minds it must to make sense. In other words, it has to pass through our filter systems.

Everyone has six basic filters.
1. Learning – solidified by study and reaffirmation
    a) Childhood instruction
    b) Tradition, Custom
    c) Group affiliation, e.g. school, church, patriotism, team, hero worship

Positive Qualities – Fulfilled & Attentive

The goal of life is living in harmony with nature. Zeno of Citium, (335263 B.C.) Philosopher

Arrectis auribus (Latin):

Where attention goes, energy flows. pay attentionre driving, pay attention to where youre going.

Exercise: How good is your attention span? How long can you stare at an inanimate object? What does your mind do while you are looking at it? Do you think of its various aspects: size, shape, color, texture, taste, memory of use?
On the other hand, how long can you be interested in an animate scene? Witness how long you can sit in front of an electronic screen. The degree to which you are absorbed in the action has a lot to do with your interest in the subject, the characters, and your curiosity of the outcome. Advertisers prepare, with a great deal of effort, their commercials to take advantage of the attentiveness of the paying public.
Are you motivated to keep your focus on what you need to? Is the object of your attention stimulating? Are you hungry, thirsty, or sleepy? Are you healthy? Are you in a competitive mode? All of these will affect your ability to be attentive.

Transforming is effortless because there is nothing to be done, there is only someone to be. Transformers, Jacquelyn Small, Author

Consideration: There are some crucial qualities, a class of qualities one really cannot do without. First on the list would be sincerity. If you are sincere in your attempt to do the right thing however you define it you are succeeding in a very important aspect.

Advice: If you are motivated by, and have a genuine sincerity in what you do, you should never feel guilty. If you choose correctly, it will reinforce the positive. If you choose incorrectly, you will learn there is a better way. And if it is some of both, you will get to experience them both and learn what was right and what was wrong.

We can have more than we’ve got because we can become more than we are. — Jim Rohn (1930-) Author

One may behave in a Seemly manner, as the definition indicates “with reference to conventional standards of conduct,” and yet the standard could need updating. The apostles were shocked that Jesus would speak with Nalda, a woman, a Samaritan, and a person of seemingly questionable character. Yet he knew her soul was sincerely longing for salvation. Positive Qualities – Extraordinary & Humble

Who wills, can.
Who tries, does.
Who loves, lives.

Dragon Flight, Anne McCaffrey (1926-2011) Author

This is a good example of how qualities work together for the greatest good. A person who thinks themselves extra Extraordinary will hold themselves above others. But add a good measure of Humility and they will see themselves from a higher perspective.

Pax,
Jim

          EXTRAORDINARY

Definition: going beyond what is usual, regular, or customary

Derivation: It is interesting that this word is made by combining two words that by themselves would not be considered anything out of the ordinary: extra and ordinary. Put them together, add a personality, and you do get someone truly special.

            HUMBLE

Definitions: (1) modest or meek in temperament; free from pride or vanity; (2) respectful

Synonyms: unassuming, unobtrusive, unpretentious

Familial Quality: humor

Quotes:
Lay first the foundation of humility. — Saint Augustine of Hippo (354-430) Roman Theologian

The sage has no interest of his own, but takes the interests of the people as his own. He is kind to the kind; he is also kind to the unkind: for Virtue is kind. He is faithful to the faithful; he is also faithful to the unfaithful: for Virtue is faithful. — Lao-tse (6th Century bc) Chinese Theologian

Prayer:
We humbly ask God (as we understand the concept) to remove our shortcomings. — Number seven of the Alcoholics Anonymous twelve‑step program.

Observation: One of the opposites of humility is conceit. And, of course, adding humility to your character traits will greatly reduce negative arrogance. But how to acquire humility. A sure fire way to gain humility is to see yourself in relation to a greater reality. This could be God or nature or even physics. But it has to be someone or something you respect and cannot help but be very impressed with. Once a person sees themselves in a larger context they will have the ability (and maybe the will) to see themselves as they truly are.
